Mark's Priorities for Dorset

EMPOWER COMMUNITIES & SUPPORT VICTIMS

I want to empower residents to report crime and build strong links between the police, council, Neighbourhood Watches and public to tackle anti-social behaviour in our neighbourhoods.

PROTECT AGAINST FRAUD & SCAMS

I want to support people and businesses by providing information and awareness training to help them identify scams and protect themselves against fraud.

TACKLE DOMESTIC ABUSE & CHILD EXPLOITATION

Many of the worst crimes in our county are those hidden to us, I want to see more done to support the victims of domestic abuse, child exploitation and county lines drug smuggling.

EXPAND THE DRONE TEAM TO TACKLE CRIME

We have access to incredible new technologies helping us fight crime. Drones can reach difficult coastal and land areas. Can be used to help locate missing people and save lives in search and rescue. Let’s use them.

EDUCATE & ENFORCE ON DANGEROUS DRIVING

With road deaths in Dorset increasing, I will urgently expand the No Excuses campaign and aim to reduce dangerous driving and speeding with education and enforcement.

INCREASE OFFICERS BY 33% IN RURAL CRIME UNIT

Too great a focus is placed on crime in the built up parts of our county, whilst rural crime is often overlooked. I want to change this and aim to put more resource into tackling crime in rural areas.

About Mark

I am really proud to have been selected to fight the Dorset Police & Crime Commissioner Election on 6th May. It would be a huge honour to represent the county and the communities that I care about.

As a resident, member of the community and local campaigner, I know the county well. I understand the crime and policing concerns of our areas and the challenges faced by local people as the cuts to policing imposed by the Conservatives hit hard.

If elected, I become your voice in fighting the crime that blights your community. I will prioritise dealing with the underlying sources of crime, namely tackling domestic abuse in all its forms as well as supporting the victims of those crimes to feel safe again and help businesses to protect themselves from fraud and scams.

Dangerous driving kills hundreds of innocent people a year on Dorset’s roads so I will enable resources to help fight this forgotten lethal activity.

I’m confident that my career in the Royal Marines and Special Forces specialising in Counter Terrorism and my law degree, combined with my work as a councillor and driving instructor, provide me with the varied skills, knowledge and experience required to be your Police & Crime Commissioner.

I am a father to four wonderful children, three have grown up and fled the nest, but I am also an adopter to a younger child.

I am an elected councillor serving on the adult health committee, l am also a member of an adoption panel and see first hand children who have suffered early years trauma. These experiences together with seeing the good done by the organisations in place to help these individuals drives me to make them available to all those who are suffering.

Best wishes,

Mark's Police & Crime Survey

Dear Resident,

I know many residents are concerned about crime and anti-social behaviour in our county.

That’s why I’m asking for your views about how you’d like to see it dealt with. I’m standing to be Dorset’s Police & Crime Commissioner – in charge of making our streets safer and keeping people from a life of crime.

My focus is on reducing dangerous driving across our county – especially speeding in our residential areas and villages. I want to stand up for victims and put their needs first. I believe our communities should be empowered to report crime – and know that something will be done about it – and will focus on neighbourhood policing.

Please fill in this quick survey and make your voice heard on this important issue.

With best wishes,

Mark Robson

Liberal Democrat candidate for Dorset’s next Police & Crime Commissioner
